The criteria on which candidates are reviewed to determine whether a listing is warranted fall into 12 different categories, including but not limited to:

- Bar and professional activity
- Scholarly lectures and writings
Thus, Super Lawyers® aims to view a clear picture of a legal professional’s career thus far to ensure that its annual lists are up to par.
