2nd DUI Charge in 5 Years leads to Arrest of Maryland Police Officer

2ND DUI CHARGE IN 5 YEARS LEADS TO ARREST OF MARYLAND POLICE OFFICERA crash involving a police vehicle ended with the arrest of a Prince George’s County Police Department officer for DUI charges.

The driver has been suspended from the department, which he has been with since 2009. He is facing multiple charges including driving under the influence and speeding. The officer was involved in a similar incident in 2012 where he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. That case resulted in administrative discipline from the Prince George’s County Police Department.

According to police, the accident occurred near Pennsylvania Avenue and I-495 on Thursday around 2:30 a.m. when the off-duty officer collided with the back of a tractor-trailer, leading him to lose control of his vehicle before hitting a guardrail.

No injuries were reported from the accident. Records show that the driver left the scene of the crash, but did return shortly after.
