Developments in the MD Court System and Our Firm Due to COVID-19

Trials Suspended; Hearings Continue

We recently received news that Maryland’s Circuit Courts will be suspending all jury trials scheduled between Monday, March 16th and Friday, April 3rd. At this time, we do not know when and how these trials will be rescheduled; when we learn more, we will personally reach out to those whose trials may be affected. We expect the government’s response to COVID-19 to continue evolving and are tracking the news closely to keep you informed.

Despite the freeze on jury trials, the courts will, to our knowledge, hold other proceedings including hearings as scheduled. The one exception to this is Prince George county, which has decided to close both its District and Circuit courts to the public entirely. While internal operations will continue, we expect no cases filed in these courts will progress until this policy is lifted. We understand such a situation is unusual—and are here to answer any questions you might have.

Safety Is Our First Priority

All our office locations will remain open for the time being, but in recognition of official recommendations, we are taking steps to ensure they remain safe both for you and our staff. We will all be pitching in to regularly sanitize our spaces using Clorox and other cleaners that are effective in killing the novel coronavirus.

We Are Here to Help

We understand that you may have questions as the situation continues to unfold, and our team is dedicated to keeping you up to date. We will continue to reach out to anyone whose case has been affected. You are welcome to contact us as well. For those who prefer to limit in-person interactions, we are available via phone, email, and live chat. Both current clients and those with legal concerns can be assured we will do all we can to help.

As the situation continues to unfold, we will continue to monitor developments in our court systems and official recommendations to give you the best—and safest—experience we can offer. You can keep up with us by following our Facebook.

No matter what, we are committed to protecting your rights and seeing justice done.
