Road Rage Incident Investigation Continues in Jefferson, Maryland

road rageMaryland State Police have identified the two individuals involved in a recent incident of extreme road rage in Jefferson, Maryland. Those involved were found to be a 26-year-old West Virginia corrections employee, and a 52-year-old from Sharpsburg.

According to Maryland State Troopers, the incident occurred along Route 340 in Frederick County, Maryland. At approximately 4:30 p.m. near mile marker seven on the westbound side of the highway, an altercation broke out between the two motorists resulting in one person being shot twice and the other suffering a head injury. The older male was transported to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment of his two gunshot wounds, which are now being considered non-life-threatening while the younger male was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital and was released following treatment.

What exactly occurred is still being investigated by the Maryland State Police. The current information that has been released to the public details that the altercation occurred after two vehicles pulled to the side of the road. Shortly after, a physical fight broke out between the two males involved. The 26-year-old male then fired two rounds after producing a handgun, which struck the 52-year-old male in his left leg and thigh.

The incident resulted in a closure of Route 340 for more than an hour.
