Alpert Schreyer is proud to announce that attorney Arya Saleh, a former Maryland felony narcotics prosecutor, has joined our legal team as Director of Criminal Litigation. Saleh’s expertise encompasses all aspects of Maryland criminal law, which he developed prosecuting and investigating cases in tandem with local, state and federal authorities, including the US Attorney’s Office, the DEA, FBI and Homeland Security.
Saleh began as a judicial law clerk for the Montgomery County District Court and then advanced to appointment as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Frederick County, Maryland where he prosecuted thousands of misdemeanor cases including domestic violence, white-collar, drug and impaired driving crimes. He was ultimately promoted to head the County’s Felony Gang Unit, within the Narcotics Division, where he supervised the prosecution of felony firearm and gang cases, as well as large-scale heroin and cocaine-trafficking operations.
“Drug crimes are a common denominator among the illicit activities of many criminal organizations, and that is why they are aggressively prosecuted,” Saleh explains. “When you prosecute felony drug cases on a daily basis – especially those involving wiretaps and multiple agencies – you get a real sense of just how much work is required to do the job right. Having had the privilege of working alongside so many committed and thorough professionals, I think I now have a sharpened instinct for distinguishing between cases that have been thoroughly assembled for prosecution, and those that have not.”
