As reported by Southern Maryland News Net, approximately two minutes after the lookout was placed for the white vehicle, Maryland State Police received a report of a head-on collision just south of Route 6, on Route 5 across from ADF Bingo.
Fire and rescue personnel and Maryland State Police arrived at the scene moments later to find two vehicles in the middle of the highway. One was a 2009 white Nissan Altima and the other was a 2011 Ford van. A preliminary investigation found that the driver of the Nissan Altima was traveling south on Route 5 in the northbound lane. Her car slammed head on into the Ford van. The driver of the van was taken from the scene and admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital. His injuries were considered non-life-threatening. The female driver of the Nissan refused treatment at the scene and signed a treatment refusal form. A standardized field sobriety test was administered at the scene of the crash, and the Nissan’s driver was arrested by Maryland State Police for driving under the influence.
