Liquor Commission Chairman Charged With DUI

Keys with alcoholDriving under the influence of alcohol is a choice…and it’s a choice that puts you and others in danger.  Many individuals mistakenly believe that a drunk driving arrest can never happen to them.  Unfortunately, it can happen to anyone and this is a cautionary reminder of that fact.

On Thursday, December 8, 2016 the chairman of the commission in charge of issuing liquor licenses in Prince George’s County was arrested and charged with DUI after being involved in a motor vehicle accident shortly before midnight.

The 72-year-old chairman was arrested after officers who responded to the accident scene detected a strong odor of alcohol on his body and administered field sobriety tests.  The chairman refused a breathalyzer test.

No one was injured in the accident which occurred on Monument and National Avenues near the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill. The chairman was released several hours after his arrest. This is the second time a public official from Prince George’s County has faced DUI charges in the past month.
